Web design is dead….

The graph above  and the accompanying URL: http://www.wired.com/magazine/2010/08/ff_webrip/ is probably being posted on countless blogs around the world.

WEB DESIGN IS DEAD makes for great  copy and there is an aspect of that headline that affects all of us -- and in particular those of us involved in developing and hosting websites. Websites these days are not so much about clever HTML coding but about how to string together apps that the user wants. People don't care about how elegant your HTML coding is, they just want it to work and to work most of the time. The revolution that has been started by the iPhone (and other smart phones) and the iPad is beginning to be felt in all areas of web/internet usage and design. It is all about apps. Nobody 'builds' a website anymore -- they pick a designed layout and populated it with apps called widgets.

(PS: I recommend the CMS of a 'responsive' theme from WordPress)
